My Water Journey: From Trendy Bottles to a Health Revelation
I’ve started getting more and more serious about my water intake and quality of it, over the years. There’s always a trendy water bottle that comes out or a TikTok trend to get you to consume more of it, etc.
But it wasn’t until I got back from a trip with my fiance when we realized just how much it impacts our overall health.
We went to San Miguel, Mexico (which you totally should add to your vacation bucket list) and you may be thinking that we got extremely sick over there from the water… heck even had “montezuma’s revenge”.
But the water in Mexico was delicious, fantastic and oh so fresh. Our airbnb that we stayed in had a reverse osmosis system.
If you don’t know what reverse osmosis (RO) is, it’s a way to clean water by pushing it through a special filter that catches the bad stuff and lets only clean water through.
We were hydrated AF and eating and drinking everything and anything in Mexico.
Why Tap Water Just Doesn’t Cut it Anymore
We came back to the states, had tap water at a restaurant in the Dallas airport, and even were drinking our “filtered” fridge water when we got home from our vacation and we felt so sick for weeks.
We ruled out the fact that it was from Mexico because our family was still there for another month after us and they were never sick like we were.
We pumped our body with fluids from our “filtered” water and just felt worse and worse.
Mountain Valley Spring Water: My Hydration Hero
But as soon as we decided to pick up a case of Mountain Valley spring water from our local Whole Foods, we were feeling better. We went down so many rabbit holes about our water and how poisoned it is. We knew for a while that our city water was no good, and had contemplated getting a Berkey, but put that on the back-burner.
So good ole Mountain Valley water nourished us back to life.
And we decided we couldn’t go back.
I never thought I’d be the person to get their water delivered in a fancy glass container, on a regular basis, but my body is so grateful that I chose this life.
Mountain Valley Spring Water is often praised for its purity, natural mineral content, and neutral pH balance. It’s sourced from a natural spring, and contains a beneficial mix of minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium, which support hydration, bone health, and overall well-being. Plus its taste is crisp and refreshing!
It’s basically the best of the best.
Buying it in glass is the only way to go too.
So in order to be able to better afford this water - and even in order to be able to get this water up to my apartment I had to figure out a delivery service.
Simplifying Water Delivery: A Guide to Getting Mountain Valley Right to Your Door
You can find your local water delivery service company by going to MV’s website here.
From there you can put in your zip code and it’ll pull your local distributor. Submit the request form and they should reach out to you shortly with a quote.
The Cost of Pure Water: An Investment in Health
We get four-five 5-gallon glass bottles delivered every 1.5-2 weeks. All depending on our work, life, travel schedules.
This is what we got with our initial delivery of our bottles:
- Ceramic crock (that dispenses the room temperature water)
- Standing floor unit (that holds the crock)
Here’s what ours looks like:
Our costs to have our four 5-gallon glass Mountain Valley Spring Water delivered bi-weekly (after putting down deposits on the crock and the standing floor unit) is about $112.
To us we would spend this out on a Friday night (easily) on drinks. So why wouldn’t we trade a night out with cocktails to have a few weeks worth of pure, natural, good for you water!?
Beyond the Bottle: The Community’s Verdict on Mountain Valley Spring Water
There is something to be said about the brand of Mountain Valley - I would clean and refill my MV bottles time & time again and take them everywhere I went for a period of time.
From my doctors, to people in the grocery store, to people in my workplace, everyone would comment over and over, that Mountain Valley is the best of the best.
And you betcha I believe that too.
Evian: A Honorable Mention in the World of Spring Waters
If I had to pick a close second, and sometimes I do when I’m traveling in the airport, it’s going to be Evian water.
I love the taste of it and the fact that it’s natural spring water as well. But what I don’t love about Evian is most often found in plastic water bottles.
The Lowdown on Glass vs. Plastic - Why Materials Matter
I try my best to only ever drink from glass.
From my 5-gallon glass bottle to my 32-oz glass water bottle on the go, or my glass mason jars at home, glass is my best friend.
Plastic can go rot.
Drinking from glass is better than plastic because it keeps your drinks pure tasting, is safer for your health, and is better for the planet. Simply put.
Drinking from plastic can expose you to microplastics, tiny plastic particles that may harm your health by potentially disrupting hormones and accumulating in your body over time.
No thanks, plastic.
